Afternoon Sun (August 25, 2005)
Over a month ago in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, CA. I know I've been putting some mediocre images on for the past a couple of weeks. I found my one-photo-a-day routine very hard when I am only shooting film. One reason is I haven't taken many photos. (Another reason is I haven't got much better at shooting good photos of course.) My Canon 10D suffered water damage beyond repair. :-( I got myself a new Canon 350D recently, and I will start using it tomorrow. I don't think the new camera will make me a better photographer, but I know I can shoot more, bring it with me all the time and leave it in my trunk without worrying heat damage to the film. Film is a wonderful medium, and I don't think it will go away anytime soon. I try to stay away from the digital vs. film argument simply because it doesn't matter to the essence of creativity -- they are tools, and different tools are meant to different jobs. I will keep shooting film whenever I get a chance. I may even get a Medium Format camera someday.
